Set general preferences

Unisphere supports the management of settings (preferences) that allow the user to monitor and manage storage systems.

Prerequisites

Only a user with Administrator permission can set preferences.

To set system preferences:

Steps

  1. Select Settings icon to open the Settings panel.
  2. Select Preferences > General.
  3. Modify any number of the following preferences:
    Warnings
    Initial Setup User Warning This setting enables or disables the display of the warning when permissions are not configured during initial setup.
    Show warning "Port group contains less than the recommended amount of ports" This setting enables or disables the display of the warning when a port group contains less than the recommended number of ports.
    Show warning "Ports in port group are on the same director" This setting enables or disables the display of the warning when ports in a port group are on the same director.
    Show warning "Port group is empty" This setting enables or disables the display of the warning when a port group is empty.
    System Dashboard Preferences
    Introduction to Health Score Card This setting enables or disables the display of the text describing the Health Score Card.
    Home Dashboard Preferences
    Default Sort option This setting sets the default sort option for the home dashboard.
    Message of the Day This setting enables or disables the display of message of the day. An example of a message could be a message relating to an impending upgrade on a particular storage system. Messages can be up to 240 characters. The message status can be set to be one of the following: INFO, WARNING, or CRITICAL.
    New Features This setting enables or disables the display of the New Features icon.
    Enable D@RE Configuration Management This setting enables or disables the D@RE configuration management setting. By default, it is not selected. At least one storage system must have D@RE enabled.
    Custom Welcome Screen Message Type a message to display to users during login. For example, you may want to inform users about a software upgrade. Messages can be up to 240 characters.
    Solutions Enabler Debug Specify the debug level. Set the following parameters:
    • Debug—Set the level of debugging to write to the debug file.
    • Debug2—Set the secondary level of debugging to write to the debug file.
    • Debug File Name—Enter the debug file name.
    NOTE: Changing the debug level from the default value of 0 might substantially increase the size of the log files and affect the performance of the system.
    REST API
    REST API Call Batching This setting enables or disables the batching and faster processing of Create SG or Modify SG REST API calls if a number of these calls arrive at the server at the same time or around the same time.
  4. Click Apply.
